Sean Ellis has stated that he also took from the story of the Beast of Gévaudin for inspiration to write this film.
Boyd Holbrook loved the script so much, he convinced Director Sean Ellis that he could successfully play a British character and he did.
Director Sean Ellis has said the inspiration for this film came from The Wolfman (1941) but decided to give it his own meaning at the same time. He has stated his meaning is a metaphor of a addiction in this story.
Originally titled Eight for Silver.
Related to the French film "Le Pacte des loups" or "The Brotherhood of the Wolf" (2001). That film takes place in Gévaudan, France, where the creature is supposed to be a giant wolf or werewolf as mentioned in Eight for Silver.

نابه‌هنگامی
Isabelle's gray plaid dress and final black dress have center-back zipper closures. Her scenes are set in 1881. The modern zipper was not patented until 1917, and commercial zippers were not used in ladies' dresses until the 1930s.
نابه‌هنگامی
Isabelle Laurent (Kelly Reilly) is wearing heavy black eyeliner throughout the film. The everyday use of eyeliner in Western cultures did not begin until the 1920s. Coming out of the Victorian Era, when visible face makeup was associated with prostitution, conservative attitudes towards cosmetics were the norm in Europe and America.
اشتباه واقعیت
If the bulk of the story is set in 1891, and John McBride's family were killed by the 'Beast of Gevaudan' in France, then he has to be about 150 years old! That event took place in 1764-1767.
اشتباه واقعیت
At min 07:30 those are gypsies, but they are speaking Romanian, instead of romani.
However it might be correct. As gypsies live all around Europe and so and the travel and migrate to many places. If they are supposed to be Romanian born gypsies and migrated to France (and that happened a lot) they can use their native language.
متفرقه
American actor Boyd Holbrook portrays a 19th century Englishman but is repeatedly shown eating using his utensils in the American fashion, using the fork in his right hand and knife in his left hand. A 19th century Englishman would dine using the fork in his left hand and the knife in his right.
